Crystal by definition is glass that contains lead oxide. Lead oxide increases the density of the glass, and that in turn increases the glasses reflective properties. The weight of the glass also increases as does the number of colors reflected. Mouth blown crystal always contains small bubbles that can be seen in strong light. If you see these tiny bubbles it is a pretty good indication that the piece was mouth blown.
